Welcome Kingdom Builders!!!
Have you ever thought that possession of land was impossible for you? Trust me, when I tell you that you are not alone! For years, the desire of acquiring my own property raced through my mind. While in college, I often contemplated on how I would decorate my bedroom! Yet, deep down inside, I was so afraid and I did not truly believe that God could do it through me or for me.
Oftentimes, I talked to God about all of the reasons why possession of land was impossible...low credit score, student loan debt, or not having enough money for the down payment. Every thought that one could imagine about why this God given promise could not be fulfilled in my life, I had it. I allowed the emotion of fear to momentarily dictacte my behavior by not demonstrating faith in Christ Jesus our Lord! Well, needless to say, God has blessed me with multiple properties and a sustainable legacy!!!
The bible is very specific about the promises of God that He made to His children regarding the possession of land, ownership of property, and legacy. In looking at Numbers 14:8 (NIV) it states, "If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us". God desires to fulfill every promise that He has made to His children in this area, but we must act in faith and are thoughts must be in agreement with the word of God.
Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV) is another scripture where the Lord points out His desire to fulfill His promise regarding possession of land and legacy. Here, this scripture states, "Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess". To invoke these promises your mindset must be aligned with the will of God for your life. Mindset is everthing!
When you align your mindset to the will of God, you are accepting that God is the head of your life, He is your Lord and Savior, and you are committed to walking in obedience to His precepts. Furthermore, you are exhibiting a belief system that is demonstrated in your daily actions that there is nothing impossible for Christ to do in your life. Sounds simple, right?
It can be. Mark 9:23 (NIV) states, "If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Simply believing that the Lord can do it through you and for you is the key! Your mindset or your way of thinking should be faith centered at all times.
Okay, I know what you are thinking? It is not that easy?
There will be times where this is not as easy as stated, but I promise you as you surrender and submit to the will of God for your life it becomes easier. Listed below are a few ways to keep a kingdom mindset:
- Regularly read the Bible
- Seek God through Prayer
- Fasting
The bible provides the necessary instructions on how one should live their lives. When you do not regualarly read the bible, you are ill-prepared to to combat the impulsive and negative thoughts that can and will attack your mind.
John MacArthur eloquently states, “The more you focus on yourself, the more distracted you will be from the proper path. The more you know Him and commune with Him, the more the Spirit will make you like Him. The more you are like Him, the better you will understand His utter sufficiency for all of life’s difficulties. And that is the only way to know real satisfaction.” When you allow earthly things to consume your mind, you are allowing those things to consume your life. Regular reading of the bible is paramount to maintaining a Christ like mindset and making certain that God's word is the focal point of your thoughts. (See 2 Corinthians 10:5).
In addition, seeking God through prayer is one of the most effective ways to ensure that your thoughts are aligned with His word and will for your life. Taking time out of you day to pray is powerful. During this time of prayer, God will open your eyes to see things clearly, ease your mind by alleviating stressors, and grant you the wisdom to keep your thoughts in check! (See James 1:5).
Fasting, also serves as another great way to ensure that your mindset is God centered. Abstaining from food, water, or a specific substance for a set period of time will enable you to see the face of God and develop a more intimate relationship with Him due to the denying of your carnal nature. During this period of consecration, it allows you to concentrate on the spiritual more so than the natural by giving you strenght to tap into the presence of the Holy Spirit. This act of humility, anchors your center of attention on God. As your gaze is more on God, so is your thoughts.
Reading your bible on a regular basis coupled with seeking God through prayer and fasting makes certain that you are embodying the mind of Christ at all times. As you grow with Christ your ability to be lead by the word of God becomes more prevalent and this will aid you in your efforts to war against the lies that satan and his foot soldiers tries to tell you regarding the promises of God for your life and legacy. "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he". Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)
